Sin eaters - which is at least a change of subject since the last thread -

that is what it is all about. *but* having grown up in a Scotland I saw

poisoned even in my own life time by a carpet of fast growing tax free pine,

I am glad that they are at least planting deciduous trees.

It is interesting, the kind of balance that must be struck in the minds of

people that run these organisations. I am always impressed when they

obviously really do believe in what they are doing but I note a certain

turning point in the evolution or entropy of such orgs where they attract a

different class of person, often managers or administrators who sees the "

angle " in it for themselves and self interest crops in.

a bit like Greenpeace really. [ reference to Lord Melchett, whose family

fortune was established by his grandfather, the founder of ICI chemicals

turning his career around to work in PR for the multi-nats ] I was always

amazed when they paid their directors 50-60K but then get their crack troupe

mercinaries doing the dare devil stunt stuff to sign their rights off on

short contracts and suck up tonnes of voluntary hours from poor people..

Usually, but not always, the founders did believe but the next generations

justify the changes on the grounds that " they have to offer those type of

wages to attract the right type of candidates " . Dare I say it, the same

class of person looking after a same class of people. Dahlin'

'brew brought the Melchett thread up and I was sorry to be too busy to

comment at the time. I met Bryn Jones, one of the founders of the original

Greenpeace, and his wife a few times. At the time I was dealing with an

amazing amount of crap from them over energy issues and technologies [ i.e.

Greenpeace using donations from the poorest and most earnest enviros to do

free PR for the Oil companies and their bought out and suppressed solar

technoilogies. { sic } ]. When I mentioned Lord Melchett Bryn responded

instantly without a blink, " What's the little shit up to now ? " kind of

says it all, I am afraid.

Just to keep it on topic, there is *nothing* more environmental, and nothing

more readily accessible [ short of satori ] that has such a deep, long term

impact than changing one's diet - and adopting a vegan or pro-vegan diet is

the *least* one can do. Fullstop.

But I never hear a word about it from them. Why?

I know a few folks like that, mostly who do it out of necessity and as they

do a whole heap of other stuff I don¹t, cant criticise them. Thinking of a

bunch of treeswingers out of the road protest movement.

Anyone else know Offshore State Circus?

Difficult in there situation to say it is a cop out, but it is a cop out.

May be your friend is just a cheap bastard with low morals graham, LOL, does

he not buy other people rounds of beer only drink theirs too?

And how tall is he anyway before you tell him I said that?

This type of " peity " was typical of early Christians and still is amongst

the Coptics, also many Buddhist Orders, each with their own reasons for

doing so. The discussion of vegetarianism versus Buddhism is one that goes

back to the very days of Gautama, they say, but those were different days

and different spaces and veganism is a necessary antidote to a different and

more modern disease.

Funny, but I have always seen veganism as a " highly evolved " , perhaps even

" sophisticated " and typically metropolitan kind of activity with the bonus

side effect of raising the status both spiritually and societally of the "

underclasses " that aspire to the solely environmentally sustainable peak of

it.

Choke over that with your sperm, whale, Melchett.

3 x BTW,

One, is one allowed two -lys in one sentence?

Two, I am just trying out Microsoft Entourage emailer and vegan does not

seem to be in the Microshaft dictionary therefor has to be deemed to be

*unvegan*. Upgrade to Linux people!

Three, I just saw the Wall sausages ad and think it is great! don¹t write

letters wingeing, right letters thanking them. It is a real compliment. I

mean, by reference, if one was to write " Jews that the Nazis are afraid off

" or something, kind of puts a different spin on it doesn't it? It shows we

are winning and live on uncomfortably in their consciences.

The day the ads read " Sausages vegans would firebomb you for " , I'll know

the masses have got the idea of what veganism is all about.

No, hold on, let me rephrase that ... Click ... MI5 computer ...
