Guest guest
just been up to the big chinese/oriental mall in Colindale, North London and found of all things *vegan shrimps * yikes! it looks like deep fried tofu related stuff. will give you the verdict in a few days. how weird can you get? something else came up that was relative to this list from a friend on a Japanese vegetarian list. there are only a tine amount of vegetarians in Japan, may be less that .01%, i'll get the exact figure. but god news that the per centage in Taiwan is at least as high as here and the food great. it is mostly vegan thanks to Buddhism and the traditional economy not supporting cattle industry. well, thank God for Buddha, that's what i say ... one guy has come up with an interesting line, he calls it " ecotarianism " , has registered the domain and is working on the philosophy. he has a real soft, compassionate approach to converting people and record Taiwanese vegetarian food is the only way, anger, emotional blackmail, the horror side not doing the trick so well. what he seems to be saying about an ecotarian approach is putting the rational arguements about the necessity of ecological sustainability first. this refers to issues that have have come up here before about what being vegan means and what comes first, i.e. if it is first and foremost animal centric or if it is valuable as a part of a fore thinking ecological lifestyle. john
