Guest guest
In the UK you can buy " The Vegan " from some health food shops, or get it free when you become a member of the UK Vegan Society (its their mag). Its publised quarterly. There are also a few less well known journals, that are not glossy mags, but are A5 typed and photocopied, such as " New Leaves " (from the Movement for Compassionate Living (the Vegan Way), and " Vegan Views " . It depends what sort of mag you're looking for. Some of these have more philosophical articles about applied ethics etc, but most do have recipes (although no piccies!). There is also a new AR mag out in the UK - its glossy and available in supermarkets apparently, and called " Ooze " for some reason (might not be strictly vegan, although I know a vegan who has been promoting it - I've never read it. I think its aimed at kids). There are also magazines from the various AR charities, such as Peta, Viva!, Dr Hadwen Trust, Animal Aid etc, although these are more about their own campaigns and how you can help, but they do often have recipes, advice etc. I also read The Ecologist, The Permaculture Magazine, E, and a few other environmental mags, although some of them are definitely not vegan. I read these because although not strictly a vegan issue, for me my compassion for animals extends to compassion to the earth as a whole, and the reason for industrialised animal abuse is society and this is linked to the way humans see everything as a resource to be exploited and profited from. So we need to change our mindset, and I think both the AR movement and the Eco movements are really working towards this change, but from different angles. The same is true, I think, of the humans rights and social justice movements. --- Rob vegan-network, Sergio Baca <vegan@r...> wrote: > One of http://vegnews.org r asked " What is a good Vegan > Magazine to Subscribe to?
