Guest guest
i think i have found a near perfect vegan pet. a racing pigeon came down in my garden and took refuge from the life of unnatural human exploitation for a couple of day. attracted no doubt my the Assian vibes emanating from my wholly vegan domicile - [ i mean, why my flat out of all the estate? ... could it be a sign? ]. no doubt, if I am realistic, the dried sunflower heads left over from last summer had a part to play also. well, the owner in Manchester said she was probably just resting having gotten lost as she was on a race from Hastings back home. the thing to do is catch them under a towel, check the ring on their ankle, read the number and call the Royal Racing Pigeon Society to fnd the owner. i did what he said, fed it once and kept it in a box to the next day then took it to the park to let it go, she flew but came back and has not left again. seems like some of the local tree rats have taken a fancy to her as well. she is a good looking blue. now, anything that is dumb enough to walk in its own food before it eats it cannot be that evolved. kind of the thing i might expect fraggle to do but not one of my housemates. but on the other hand, she seems to be wholly vegan in practice and entirely satisfied with the contents of my wholefood shelves. so here is the ethical vegan debate folks, may be I should make a poll for this. do I liberate it and keep it, or catch it and send it back in an Amtrack box to its owner? God, it looks cut and dried to me having written it down. The major pro are that; 1] it looks like it might be fairly self sufficient in case I have to go away for a week or so 2] it is not some hateful little shit machine of a pooch that needs cleaning up after and is entirely dependent on love and attention 3] it does not murder smaller fluffier beasties like a mog 4] it pretty much eats what i eat anyway and cost less than a horse to feed. [ but i must read up what stewardship entails. 5] any poops it does do do are pretty much invisible the next day, unlike the aforementioned horse 6] if it gets hacked off it might just find its own way home again. The cons are hardly cons at all but what happens to them in winter? Do I need to build a house? What happens if the local bloods and her get it on with some love action? Anyone grandfather keep pigeons and can help? The guy has not returned my call for over a week. Thanks, john

From a totally non-expert point of view I would say keep the pigeon. You probably care about it more than the owner, especially since he hasn't phoned you again.
