Guest guest
I think if we all dress/groom ourselves as hippies it's too easy for the mainstream to 'write us off' and it creates a marked division between Us and Them. IMO it's better that we all make this choice for ourselves. I for one have had a marked influence in my office on peoples' diets, no conversions yet, but here's hoping. We are all ambassadors for our ethical stance so we have to be everywhere working/living/playing alongside the others. Morag manga_mog Sun, 03 Jun 2001 18:29:04 -0000 vegan-network [100% veg*n ] Skirts, Hippies and Conforming:) I agree with Sas, if you dress differently at school/uni then people can make life pretty crap for you... I always tried to wear what I liked but it's really hard sometimes. (Btw, I didn't dress like a hippy, but that's what I got called - obviously they were all wearing dog collars and fishnets at Woodstock). For me it ties in with being veg*n cos it all has to do with standing up for what feels right to you. Anyway, veganism *will* get as popular as being veggie eventually... everyone else conforming to our standards?? And you don't always need to conform to pull nice men. Hee hee hee.
