Did anyone see the front page of the metro today? All about this GM

monkey they've created. oh my god, its so awful that this has

started happening. instead of showing a cute picture of the monkey,

why don't they show pictures of all the f*cked up experiements

they've put the other monkeys through to get there?!

plus, did you see in the London vegans literature that someone is

trying to make it illegal for information about experiments to be

given to the public. hmmm, wonder why that is.

I really wish that instead of always looking for 'cures' and giving

people drugs they would look into prevention and encourage people to

lead healthy lifestlyes instead. I'm sure some of these diseases

could be prevented, or at least lessened, if people learned to eat

properly and did some exercise. its a really sad state of affairs,

isn't it.

I haven't seen the London vegan literature you refer to but, perhaps

from a slightly different angle, one reason why some might wish to

limit information is touched on this week in:

http://www.newscientist.com/editorial/

.... an Australian research team reported this week on a fatal mouse

virus they engineered inadvertently; the potential for biological

weapons (or for further accidents) was evident and after some

soul-searching they decided to publish their experience to flag the

danger. Very disconcerting.

I had a friend who was a junior doctor in Lancaster

and he said that about 2/3 of the people in the

hospital were there because they smoked. Add to that

the 1/6 that Vernon Coleman says are ill as a result

of pharmaceutical drug side effects. Doesn't leave

very much.

Also if anyone's interested I went to see what was

happening with the Countryside alliance demo at

Parliament Square yesterday. There was about 5 of them

and 2 of us.

Michael.
