They are also available as electric models with four short legs for use on the countertop. They are also called Dutch Ovens in Canada. My stove top model is made by Everware. Guest guest
Shoshanna shalom, Thanks a lot for your explanation! Now I understand, it is like the cauldron (right spelling, right word?) used by witches? It is not an oven really, but a heavy pot. Funny how things get their names. Wishing you a happy day ~ Dorith
Guest guest
Can you send the recipe for Spanish garlic soup? Karri Ann <karriannallrich wrote: Hi Dorith! A dutch oven is a large heavy soup pot with a lid; you can use it on the stove top, or place it in the oven. Often they are made from cast iron, or enameled cast iron. shalom, Karri Ann Dorith wrote: Hello, I am looking at old messages and came across message # 24, Spanish garlic soup. There is mention of a Dutch oven. I live in Israel, but the first 19 years of my life I lived in the Netherlands and I have no idea what a Dutch oven is supposed to be? And what would a non-Dutch oven be like? Thanks for any explanations. Shalom from Dorith
