Guest guest
Welcome, Beth and Berti! Yes it's pretty quiet at the moment - vegans must be one of those hibernating species So Berti, you became vegan because you liked the food in your cook book so much? I've never heard that reason given before! That's pretty cool. Just shows how great vegan food is!
Guest guest
Hi Cat :-) Yeah somehow it made me think and veganism HAS been in the back of my mind for YEARS, only I found it too much hassle and too extreme What nice surprises life can give you, eh? Also, since I stopped using milkproducts especially I have more energy. Now I have become a vegan cookbook collector ..I was a cookbook collector already but the vegan ones DID really help with the turnover. Examples, joanne stephaniaks uncheese book/ vegan vittles , the books by colleen Patrick Goudreau joy of vegan baking/ the vegan table, and another great one was Nonna's Italian kitchen (author?) But in my vegetarian times I was a fan of " the farm " , the famous American community. The book that started my veganism was by lisette Kreischer, ecofabulous cooking in all seasons (in dutch), it is a very cute, nicely styled, well photographed (VERY important) bok. Worst book I had: Veganomicon. I bought that last one because of all the reviews/ recommendation and it was sooooooo ....no, sorry, NOT my thing. SO that last one is gathering dust. Of course, when asked I DO give reasons which I stand behind now for turning vegan: sustainability, environmental..the idea that more people in the world could get food if we quit eating meat, is also an important one. Guess everyone has her/ his own reasons to turn vegan. Lovin' it. :-) Berti
