Wondered what everyone else thought of it? On the face of it, I don't have a massive problem with it. I'd much prefer the programme makers be charged for killing and harming all the animals they use in the bushtucker trials - as that was all done *purely* for entertainment purposes which in my opinion is 100% unacceptable. (But maybe those animals are just too small or not cute enough, so don't count?!) Cheers, James
Guest guest
I say good. Yes, the animal cruely in the program in general is deplorable, but sadly not illegal, so this seems better than nothing by a long shot. Guest guest
I find it distubing that the authorities have such terrible double standards... how is it OK to harm large amounts of animals for/during the bush tucker trials, but it's not OK to harm one rat because you're hungry? Not condoning the latter of course, but at least that was for food - instead of just entertainment (and therefore merely a tool for earning money). Talk about messed up priorities. You know I'm sure in the past I have seen bush tucker trials where contestants had to eat a rat's tail? Hypocrites. Opalline On the face of it, I don't have a massive problem with it. Guest guest
I hope something more comes of this though i agree with above people. There seems little difference between that and what animals get subjected to on there normally.
Guest guest
That's exactly what I meant. I wonder how big/cute an animal has to be in order for the authorities to get involved. They may have started at the wrong end (i.e., killing an animal for food rather than for entertainment), but at least it's a start. Hopefully, they will raise the bar and one day we'll see the end of exploiting animals for entertainment. There is absolutely no justification whatsoever. - Underwood-Fowler Cindy Monday, December 07, 2009 10:52 AM RE: I'm a Celebrity - animal-cruelty charges I find it distubing that the authorities have such terrible double standards... how is it OK to harm large amounts of animals for/during the bush tucker trials, but it's not OK to harm one rat because you're hungry? Guest guest
If they were that hungry, they would have started foraging? plenty of bugs around there if they looked for them? Every time I glanced at the screen they seemed to be smoking/ drinking etc, doesnt look like they were wanting for anything, and once I saw one of them peeling a mango and another a pineapple, both at breakfast time. They ate better than me!  Peter vv ________________________________ " james @ telestial " <james Tuesday, 8 December, 2009 13:10:13 Re: I'm a Celebrity - animal-cruelty charges  That's exactly what I meant.
