To do so, we need your help. Please get your trade union, community group or other organisation to back the march (and also to make a donation to Stop the War Coalition). And tell us by email or telephone as soon as this has happened, so we can regularly update a growing list of supporters in our publicity and on our website. If you are in touch with prominent individuals - campaigners, artists, singers, authors, academics, etc. - please send them the message below or contact them directly and urge them to pledge their support for the demonstration. Many thanks for your help in making 28 September a march that really counts. >From the officeStop the War Coalition[text of message to solicit support for demonstration:] Dear friend,We'd like to ask you (and/or your organisation) to support the demonstration on 28 September on the themes of 'Don't Attack Iraq' and 'Freedom for Palestine'. The demonstration is organised jointly by the Stop the War Coalition and the Muslim Association of Britain, and supported by CND. It has already won the support of a number of prominent individuals and trades unions, including the NUJ, RMT and ASLEF. The proposed assault on Iraq is clearly opposed by the majority of people in this country. More than 160 MPs have signed the Early Day Motion against such an assault. Now is the time for us all to take action to stop the British government from joining Bush's war. It is important that people like yourself give public support to the demonstration on 28 September, so that we can ensure it reflects the scale and breadth of British opposition to Bush's war. Together, we can really make a difference. Your name would be used in publicity for the demonstration. In addition, any donation you could make towards the cost of the demonstration would be greatly appreciated. Cheques to Stop the War Coalition, PO Box 3739, London E5 8EJ We hope to hear from you soon. Please reply to office or if you have any queries please telephone the office on 07951 235 915.
