I am a single vegan mother to 15 month old Analea. It is possible to practice attachment parenting as a single mom, I am proof. I recommend Joanne Stephaniak's _ Vegan Vittles for delicious recipes. For web based support, I like vegsource.com--lots of links to doctors, discussion boards, and recipes. I was wondering, have you looked into breastfeeding your adopted daughter? It takes extra patience and effort, but the benefits to both you and her will be amazing. Depending on the age of your daughter when you adopt, this is a possibility. I have talked to a friend who is becoming a La Leche League instructor. She was going to get some more details for me. Does anyone know an adoptive mom who has done this? I won't know my daughter's age until next spring and then will travel to China in the summer; she will likely be between 6 - 20 months, so a big range. Sometimes anticipating single motherhood is so scary. I want to live by my values, but sometimes I get overwhelmed. I'm hoping nurturing my support system will help. I'm thinking about getting together with some folks in my community who share common beliefs. Interestingly, one of my friends who just had a baby was vegan and started eating meat during pregancy, and two other friends with kids who I thought were vegetarian due to their other values (attachment parenting, energy healing and yoga) eat whole foods but are not vegetarian. People think I am off somehow and are doing a disservice to my children. I cried when I found out how they raise animals for McDonalds. I even had one lady at the grocery store ask me why I bought so many fruits and vegetables. No no no :=) I meant that I wasn't aromalady who I think originally posted the item and recipe re soyrizo - but I was answering anyway, that's all *lol* It was the right list - and hey, I was right, it *is* all veggie and just like chorizo sausage only made outta soy.
