Hi everyone!

As you see, still a young group (started 16 May) and therefore lots of new

members continuing to join us ;=) So please forgive me if I can't get around to

speaking with each individually right away - I will eventually, I promise!

Meanwhile, please have a look around the files, the archives of messages,

the links - and think about what you'd like to get out of this list and *start

posting*. there's no point in standing on ceremony or being formal or

whatever around here, cuz we're all new, every one of us! So just jump right in

- come on - the water's fine *lol*

As for me, if you wonder, I am yer intrepid leader, listowner/moderator,

longtime veggie, and live in Canada now (but as you can tell from my accent -

no? can't tell?) have lived all over. Especial welcome to UK and NZ and Oz

members ;=)

Right now I am looking for new lentil recipes - love lentils. You can do so

much with them and they take on all the wonderful flavours of the foods you

mix them with. They freeze pretty well, too, in most of their guises, and have

the virtue of not costing a bomb for those who are on a limited/nonmillionaire

budget ;=)

Yesterday I cooked up a batch of good old-fashioned chilli non carne in the

crockpot so that we can pick at it if the weather's too hot for cooking. But lo

and behold it is cool today - around 16 C. this morning - so I can please

myself *lol*

I look forward to hearing from all of you!

Best,

I am not a new member, but I never completed the questionaire, so I

thought I would do that; But first: Greenfury, I mistook your accent

as being from Minnesota, sorry about that. Also, I assume your old

fashioned chile con carne should have had quotation marks around it.

What is your name or what may we call you?

Doug Smith - you can call me Doug or just about anything you want.

How long have you been a vegetarian, or how long have you been

interested in vegetarian cookery?

I am not vegetarian. I just love to cook and am looking forward to

new recipes and ideas. Also, I am trying to eat a little healthier

and eat a few more veggies.

What country are you in now?

USA

What city or town?

Cary, NC

What age are you (just roughly, very roughly!)?

Roughly 54

Why did you join this group (apart from receiving an invitation!)?

To learn more about cooking. The Spicy part peaked my interest.

What kinds of foods interest you most?

Just about an kind. I love flavorful foods with lots of complexity.

Is there anything you'd like to tell the group?

Nothing comes to mind.

Thanks

Doug

It's great that you want to eat more healthy food, Doug ;=) Most people just

don't eat enough portions of vegetables and fruit a day, as you know. Of

course, being vegetarian doesn't guarantee that either - lots of junk food out

there for us to eat *lol* if we want to be foolish! My philosophy is to keep the

sugars and fats down to a dull roar and to eat a balanced diet ;=) I also

strongly believe that food should and can be enjoyed - and our family has

long enjoyed spicy food, especially from Asia - hence this list!

Soooo, no pressure to be a vegetarian ;=) Just enjoy the list and contribute

when you can. We'll look forward to hearing from you about vegetarian spicy

food!

Best,

gf
