Oooh, that makes a great discussion question!

Why does everyone here like spicy food?

I love spicy foods because they help regulate the body when the weather is

hot or cold. I'm one of those people who are always feeling cold and a bit

of the right spice can warm me up. There's also something almost addictive

in those really spicy dishes that make your eyes water and your nose run.

:)

I love spicy food for the taste, but I am also addicted to the

endorphin rush. While everyone else is complaining that there lips

(or even there whole face) are going to burn off, I kick back in my

recliner, close my eyes, smile, and enjoy the smooth mellow ride on

cloud 9.

I'm not sure why (maybe it's my addictive behavior) but I know when...

It was in 1969 and I was in Bangkok. I had no idea that Thai food was

any different than any other 'oriental' food. WOW, was I ever

surprised. I fell in love with hot and spicey foods right then and

there.

I'm lucky that we have a lot of Hmong refugees moving to our area. It's

easier to get good ingredients. A few have opened resturants too. Yum.

Nothing like authentic stuff.

Many think that Thai food is the *best*! ;=) My dh and I didn't hit Thailand

until

the late 'seventies (was it really?) and we were blown away. At first, we looked

at dishes with all that green bell-pepper/capsicum looking greenery in it and

thought, well, it has to be mild. It wasn't. But it *was* delicious! After we

came

back I turned myself towards trying Thai food whenever I could find a way.

Until then it had been all India and Honk Kong cooking. (Later we added

Indonesian, Malaysian, Singaporean, etc.)

Thai is a buzz!!!! *lol*

(But of course, we still do all the others as well - confirmed eaters of asian

food because, well, because it works so well with a vegetarian lifestyle ;=))

gf

Feed me anything but make it spicy!
