Guest guest
I haven't treated anyone for this specifically, but I remember that HT 8 is supposed to be really good for excessive armpit sweating... maybe PC 8 too? and add KD 7. This looks like a case where that Huang lian would help a lot. What about suan zao ren and Long gu, Mu li which also inhibits sweating? Definitely a sympathetic nervous system overdrive, right? 4 shots of espresso in morning... Suan zao ren tang + Huang lian, Long gu, Mu li ? How about just cut back on the caffeine? and drink more water. ST 27 is indicative of male fertility-type issues, right? (TCM/Kiiko) In Manaka's school, it's LI issues... http://www.yinyanghouse.com/theory/japanese/manakas_modern_mu_acupuncture_points any aortic pulse down the abdominal midline (pulsing) (fu ling, gui zhi indication) or beside the navel (long gu, mu li indication)... Guest guest
Hi David, Besides treating based upon differential diagnosis and usual recommended points, you should consider that underarm sweating or hyperidrosis is a response of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and can be treated by needling at T2-T4 where the nodes of nervous ganglia of the SNS activate the sweat glands responsible for excessive sweating. One technique that I was taught is cases such as this is a five needle technique: Needling on the du, Hua Tuo Jiaji, and UB first line. Palpate each three vertabrae and choose the one which is most tender. Then do kinetic acupuncture, by having the patient gently swing his or her arms and shrug her shoulder and scapulae. ________________________________ dmvitello01 <dmvitello Fri, March 12, 2010 6:55:24 PM Case Study: Excessive sweating only from armpit Hi All, Please advise if your are inclined. 30 yr old male. 1 year of excessive sweating from arm pit. Guest guest
Pot? Have you asked about drug use? I've seen this in some pot smokers. IIRC, I seem to remember armpit sweating is d/t Ht heat - and that fits with your description, except is his sweating worse with stress or anxiety - that's not always clearly described by the patient.
