hi all,

i had some liquid soap yesterday. i am not sure if i cooked it long

enough. i went from total liquid to a thick paste consistency. it

did not seem to go through any stages. i did it in a roaster at

about 140-150 degrees for about 4 hours.

it has jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, and lye & water.

i was just pretty much working with the oils i had handy for getting

my feet wet. i tried some this morning and it seems to suds and all

that good stuff.

sence it is a extremely thickness i know i will have to dilute it.

do i just try diluting alittle of it and wait to see how it turns

out. do i have to reheat it. how does that work.

but before diluting do you think i cooked it long enough.

thank you

donna

Donna,

Is it a neutragena ish color. Like an amber color?

And what percentage of coconut oil did you use?

The more palmitic acid in the fats you use the less transparent it will be.

(coconut oil/palm oil have high concentrations of palmitic acid in them)

It makes the oil harder (Ie as opposed to liquid oils (olive/ sweet almond)

Jojoba is a wax, so that would add to the effect as well.

Let me know

Jennifer

Donna,

It sounds like it's cooked enough. Did you do a ph test yet?

okay. (disclaimer.. DO NOT DO THIS IT IS DANGEROUS. IF YOU DO THIS YOU

ARE TAKING YOUR OWN TONGUE INTO YOUR OWN HANDS. YOU CAN SERIOUSLY BURN YOUR

SELF IF YOU DO THIS. I AM NOT SUGGESTING THAT YOU DO THIS I DO THIS MYSELF

ONLY BECAUSE I KNOW THAT I AM THE IDIOT WHO WILL BE BLAMED FOR HURTING

MYSELF.)

when you don't have ph test strips you can touch the tip of your tongue to

it to see if it's hot... (I call it hot but it's more like a battery to

tongue... I know you're not supposed to do that, but sometimes I have to do

what I can till you get what you need.) Anyway. if it tingles on your

tongue it's not ready.

ok thanks for the trick. its been cooking for about 2 hours now and

loosed up a good bite. i am going to turn it off so it can cool down

before i do the idoit thing.

thanks alot for the help. but it is still not amber it is a bright

yellow with like a creamy white stips when i stir it. but it also has

like a silky look to it. looks like it will be a good feeling one.

again thanks alot.

Those white streaks are probably bubbles. I've done that before whipped way

too much air into it and the only way to get that out is dilute it, and

jojoba does this wonderful translucent thing when you have it in the make up

Warm the water. If you warm the water and add the paste it dissolves

quicker.
