Both are bitter and cold, both reduce toxic heat in the liver and stomach, and both interestingly are called tonics by the great Western herbalist, John Lust. To quote his explanation of tonifying activity, " By acting to remove poisons from the body, it (dandelion) acts as a tonic and stimulent as well.
