Guest guest
Hi All, My notes on dosage of Chinese herbs suggest that: 1. FRESH herbs are dosed at 2-3X the dose of the DRIED herbs; 2. Depending on the ratio of DRIED HERB : DRIED EXTRACT, dried herbal EXTRACTS are dosed at 10-50% of the dose of the DRIED HERB. Calculated from adult human dosage data in my notes on single TCM herbs, the mean doses of 16 fresh (crude, undried), 512 dried and 87 dried extracts (powders, pills, tablets) were, respectively, circa: FRESH herb: 40g/d; DRIED herb: 13g/d; Herb EXTRACT: 5g/d. However, depending on the herb (and its safety/toxicity), there was huge variation around these mean values. Would experts care to comment on these figures?
