Hi All,

Have any of you seen lupus triggered after using high-dose garlic?

See note from a vet colleague, below.

Best regards,

Garlic and Lupus

Hi all I am trying to find a reference to the link between garlic fed to

dogs and the triggering of lupus due to the toxic metabolites into

which garlic breaks after passage through the canine stomach.

I read about the link in an unrelated article and cannot remember

where I have put it. I have a young basenji as a client who has

gone from full health to major problems after eating improperly

manufactured dog- treat biscuits that were heavily laced with an

overdose of garlic due to a failure in the manufacturing process

which the company initially freely admitted to the owner( and also

revealed that other dogs had also developed illnesses after eating

this batch of biscuit).

Unfortunately the company has not to date followed up in the way I

have seen other food manufacturers like Hills etc do if there is a

concern over their product(rare tho that would be;-)). ) and so I now

need the orginal garlic reference. many thanks for any help Aine
