Another variable in the adult learner mix has to do with authority and

respect. we cannot expect adult learners to show us the same kind of

deference that 16 year old chinese shows a 70 year old master. Many of

our students are extremely successful in their own fields and they rightly

so do not think of us as superiors, but just just as someone who has equal

but different expertise. this also influences the teaching model.
