Hello all,

I will be seeing my first CML-patient(chronic myeloic leucemia) today. It was

discovered in 1995, an autologue transplantation of bone marrow failed (they

found 100% Philadelphia-chromosomes now) She should decide until autumn to get

a transplantation from somebody elses bone marrow. She wants to avoid

it(GvH....).

Who has treated patients with this disease and could give me a little support?

thanks,

Patrick

Patrick,

While I quickly admit to having no experience with this disease,

now that you've see the patient, what was the pattern like?

Tongue? Pulse? age of patient?

Have you seen Simon Becker's new hematology book from blue

poppy. I has an excellent leukemia section.

I have experience treating CML. It is imperative to follow pattern diagnosis

while incorporating herbs that have a known clinical effect on the disease.

in Simon Beckers excellent Hematology text there are numerous patterns

given, but I have seen patients, which of course fit none of them. I

construct formulas based on TCM Dx and incorporate anti-cancer herbs that

are appropriate for the patients condition. The patient should be seen by

there oncologist for follow ups. It is important to know what therapy the

patient is undergoing in order to counteract any toxic effects beforehand.

Treating cancer patients is a full time job. It is important to have a firm

understanding of the biological causes, clinical course and western medical

treatments.

Thanks for the replies,

Simon Beckers book is ordered, I will check it out.

The patient is in a study on STI 571. But all of her blood cells drop with the intake. So it is a coming and going, similar to the effects of chemo. 5yrs ago she had an autologue transplantation, that also means high dose full body radiation.

She now shows symptoms of Spleen-Lung Qi deficiency, Liver Qi-stagnation, Kidney injured, with a pale-rose tongue body full of little cracks(front & sides), swollen (mostly in front and middle) with toothmarks. Almost no coating, dry.

Her pulse is soft (soggy?) in the right middle pos, while thin, wiry & slippery on the right.

So far the signs.

I found a translated chinese text on cancer with some differentiation & formulas. Fu Zheng Pei Ben Principle.

Still I would like to hear more about herbs that encounter the cancer, additional to the differentiation.

thanks for helpful comments,

Patrick
