Guest guest
Peter You brought up some good points. I am also interested in the TCM energetics of western foods and herbs .Even now not all TCMer's agree which channels certain herbs go to etc. Coffee is of interest to me.It reacts to me in a hot yang way.I get flushed ,dry ,thirsty, and too much of it will react in a yang rising way. However I have read other sources that say its cold. Recently on this list someone mentioned that banana is cold .Is that put in as a side dish with coconut to cool a hot Indian curry. In reference to alcohol. European alchemists used different type of spirits for their formulas. I know the Chinese I used to work with in China town Sydney always used the best quality French conqac (spelling incorrect!) for their tonic storage..ginseng,deer horn etc. So their must be a difference.
