Guest guest
Dear Members Many of you joined in the last month due to a mailing you received. However, I sent this mailing to 6,000 current NCCAOM certified acupuncturists and only about 70 new members joined. This response rate is typical for bulk direct mailings (1-2%). However, it seems amazingly low given that no purchase is necessary to join and a highly specific group was targeted with a service not available elsewhere. I can only surmise: 1. Perhaps far less acus have computers than suspected. In other professional groups, computer and internet use is at about 100% right now. 2. People dismissed the CHA mailing as merely a commercial solicitation with no other merit. 3. People are very concerned about internet privacy, so they don't want to give out their email address online. I think this underscored by the fact the many people on this list have signed up using alternate email addresses like or hotmail, despite these being somewhat of a pain to access your mail. 4. People are just not interested. I can believe this is true for many, but 99% seems a high apathy rate even for us. Now that we about to launch into a very important struggle over herb regulation, it is vital that our group be as large and strong as possible (in numbers and finances). In that interest, I strongly encourage you to recruit your colleagues and/or students to join this list. There are currently a few thousand TCM students in America alone. Let them know its free, its fun and its important. And they don't need to reveal any personal info to join and their email address is always hidden from all other members. Thanks.
