It may be used for many different conditions, from bone loss to weakness. The direction is to take it with warm milk. There is one contraindication - kidney stones. It is really not Russian, but Ayurvedic medicine " herb " . Because of the connections with Tibet mumiyo became popular in the country. May be Badmayev-father (ayurvedic doctor) brought it to Russia before the revolution. In US you can get it with different name " shilajit " . Some Shilajit has a large quantity of calcium, whereas other types are rich in iron. The mumijo derived from the Altay region, appears to be very reliable. It is mostly found in caves, where it has formed large stalactites over the years, hanging from the ceiling. Unsoiled by birds and vegetation.
