Hi Kath & All,

> phil:... wondering about dosing. you say for all of these " 1dose/d.

> make dec & divide into 2 servings " i take that to mean that the doses

> giving are for one bag/day. yes?

You have what I have. My translation from Chinese may have been that of a

novice.

I read it as you do - viz, dose one bag / day, divided into 2 servings.

> on rx #1 for sore throat, you say to gargle BID continuously for 7 days.

> does this mean to gargle, then swallow each sip of each cup of tea, BID?

I am not sure, but it seems to have little potential danger if swallowed after

gargling. The formula was:

Chengren Shuyin Fang (Adult Gargle Drink Formula); for those susceptible

to sore throat + adults w history of close contact w flu cases:

Jinyinhua 6g, Daqingye 6g, Bohe 3g, Gancao (Sheng) 3g;

1 dose / d, divided in 2 servings morning + evening; gargle BID continuously

for 7d;

Take under medical guidance; Base product is preventive Med; AVOID

prolonged use;

> " continuously for 7 days " does this mean to gargle continuously

> throughout the day for 7 days, or to take it BID for 7 days? kath

A better translation would be: gargle (and probably swallow after that) BID

for 7 days in sequence.

> on the prophylactic rx, it says to take for 5 days. would this be for

> 5 days upon suspected exposure, or 5 days intermitently throughout the

> flu season, as a preventative? kath

I read it to mean: take one bag / day (in 2 halves BID) for 5 days in

sequence upon suspected exposure. This might be repeated a few times at

intervals during the flu season.

The formula was: Ertong Yufang Fang (Children's Prophylactic Formula):

suitable for children and pre-echool children;

Lugen 10g,

Sangye 5g,

Douchi 5g,

Jinyinhua 5g;

1 dose / d; make Dec & divide in 2 servings; take continuously for 5 d;

pre-school children reduce by half;

take under medical guidance; base product is preventive medication, AVOID

prolonged use;

Best regards,
