hu chang, chien li kuang: what is this

In a 1999 article on tx Lyme dx, Subhuti provides the following list of

herbs which tx a similar spirochete bacteria called leptospira. there's a

couple of herbs he mentions that i don't recognize the russian pin-yin. he

doesn't provide the latin. wondering if anyone might know these herbs:

 

 

 

Hu-chang : is this hu zhang?

 

Chien-li-kuang: what's this?

 

he also mentions verbena: Ma Bian Cao, Verbena . would this be a different

variety of the common lemon verbena? do you think lemon verbena might have

similar effects?

 

and lastly: could anyone provide the ingredients for su he tang. i'm told

it's effective in tx Lyme dx.

The following list of leptospira-inhibiting herbs was culled from the

Chinese medical literature:

 

Da Qing Ye, Isatis leaf

 

Tu Fu Ling, Smilax

 

Ban Lan Gen, Isatis root

 

Zhi Zi, Gardenia

 

Chuan Xin Lian, Andrographis

 

Hu-chang

 

Huang Lian, Coptis

 

Chien-li-kuang

 

Huang Qin, Scute

 

Ma Bian Cao, Verbena

 

Huang Bai, Phellodendron

 

Di Yu, Sanguisorba

 

Lian Qiao, Forsythia

 

Qing-hao

 

Vebena, Ma Bian Cao: Bensk p666: syphilitic sores: (topical: use for Lyme

rash.)

 

 

 

Most of these herbs treat a condition described as damp-heat; many of the

herbs have broad-spectrum antibiotic and antiviral properties. The

book *Thousand

Formulas and Thousand Herbs of Traditional * (5), no doubt

relying on the same source material, listed the first nine ingredients of

the above list as inhibitors of *Leptospira*;
