Guest guest
Let me add one more interesting tidbit to this discussion. Though I have, in the past, mentioned different acupuncture protocols that I have used with Chana, I must admit that I was a little disingenuous. The truth is that Chana hates getting acupuncture, (and not just from me!) does not relax when needled, and becomes paradoxically, more irritable and vulnerable to seizures even upon administration of superficial or auricular acupuncture. From my experience I have found that two specific types of patients generally do not benefit from acupuncture: Those who are severly Blood Xu, and those who have difficulty discharging electricity. I would also offer the observation that often these two conditions co-exist, and are both directly related to the liver, with liver wind generated by a lack of Liver Blood and Kidney Yin. --- On Mon, 9/7/09, Are Thoresen <arethore wrote: Are Thoresen <arethore SV: Epilepsy, Electricity and Chinese medicine Monday, September 7, 2009, 3:21 AM The story about the wife of Yehuda reminds me of my own epilepsy. Guest guest
This discussion is turning into a real revelation and confidential testament of the paths we all took to get here. Early on, and so many times, people think or presume that great thinkers and innovators don't suffer usual things. Sometimes thats true, but we're still fighting history, dna and environmental offences. Our overcoming suffering can help make us more expert in helping others. Maybe another lifetime will lessen the negative effect. --- On Tue, 9/8/09, wrote: Re: SV: Epilepsy, Electricity and acupuncture , " TCM " <Chinese Traditional Medicine > Tuesday, September 8, 2009, 2:45 AM Let me add one more interesting tidbit to this discussion. Guest guest
Yehuda, I have found this as well. Generally however, there are steps one can take to minimize the deleterious effects. For me, i establish an anchor (through NLP) and utilize more palpation and non-insertion protocols and have found this to be helpful as usually the individuals with this presentation have the strong desire, but not the blood to lay the foundation if you will. I will say one more thing that in my experience, auricular has never appeared to be well tolerated, but then i don't needle the ear that often anyhow.
