OT: Evil & Predators ** Sniffing Vitex

Hi Butch,

That paragragh about guns touched a nerve with me. Having just lost my husband

to a massive head bleed on Dec 14, I changed my mind about having a gun. I live

on Rt 1 Maine and altho I live in a rural setting there are crazies who live in

my town that I wouldn't want to meet alone. So I am going to prepare myself just

in case one of the crazies wanders into my yard. I don't know if I will load it

:<) but having protection around will ease my fears.....besides I have three

dogs--2 collies and 1 GSD--to alert me....

home I would probably call the cops on my cell phone .. the baddy could

do little damage in the meantime. They would have to break into the

bedroom to actually harm us. The 9 MM automatic pistol in the night

stand beside my bed is not a collector item .. its not been taken out

(except for routine cleaning) in a long, long time. I hope I never have

a need to take it out except for cleaning .. but if the need arises I am

prepared to use it in a rational manner. If one is not prepared to do

this then they should not own a weapon. If one is opposed to ownership

of firearms and they are faced with such an unfortunate situation .. its

Hey Kathleen, Barb, Sindy, Marcia .. other good folks ..

Its heart warming to read such comments on this list. Turning the other

cheek might be the right thing to do but those who hold (or have held)

such beliefs are either perpetual victims .. or dead victims.

Having often been rightly accused of being a Conservative in the midst

of a Liberal minded News Group .. I won't tell y'all whether I agree or

disagree. I do, however, believe that opinions can change based on one

being faced with a significant emotional experience. Below is a fairly

logical quote. ;-)

doing so would in fact have deterred other murders, we have allowed the

The topic of Capital Punishment brings up emotional reactions for folks

on both sides of the issue and conflict for those who are undecided.

I'm satisfied to leave the solution of Capital Punishment in the hands

of the voters .. where I think it should be. Jurors hear testimony on

many horrific crimes and then make tough decisions. There is a yearly

average of 15,000 murders in the USA .. the USA has just passed 1,000

executions in a bit more than 30 years. Does this indicate that Capital

Punishment has generally been reserved for the worst of the worst?

Much attention has been given to the execution of 1,000 murderers. Some

folks say the execution of a convicted murderer is, unto itself, a crime

against humanity. Are the deaths and suffering of the innocent victims

just statistics to be ignored? I claim no opinion. ;-)

Wouldn't work .. even castration or amputation wouldn't be sufficient

cause its not only sexual gratification the sickos are seeking. Besides

that, all sex offenders are not men.

Just as we don't really measure cold, we measure the absence of warmth,

and we don't measure darkness, just the absence of light .. its tough to

measure or assign degrees of evil .. its the absence of good.

In nature there's no good or evil but we destroy biting dogs, alligators

that attack people or their pets and old or crippled mountain lions that

are forced to prey on humans for food .. we justify these actions to

eliminate dangers to mankind because so-called civilized thinking is

that mankind and his possessions must be protected from wild beasts.

Does this mean .. only 4 legged beasts? This confuses me sometimes.

Me too .. like Matthew 5:6 - " Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for

righteousness, for they will be satisfied. " The innocent victims can

not be satisfied but the families of righteous victims (and potential

future victims) can be satisfied when predatory monsters are dealt with

in a manner that totally and absolutely ensures no recurrence of such

behavior. That's why they destroy the gaiters, dogs and mountain lions.

If someone were to purposely harm my wife, children or grandchildren, I

(and perhaps many others) might react in what some would call a rational

manner and others would call an uncivilized manner.
