Looking for Herbs to put in teas to give you energy

Hi Moonfirelady (love the name !!)

I am very new to this group and am still learning a lot!

I think, though, that Gingko Biloba as well as Gurana are energy boosters.

Gingko is a root that tastes like dirt. Gurana is a seed that grows in the

Amazon. The shell is discarded and they use the very centre of the seed.

Gingko helps with your circulatory system and Gurana helps with your nervous

system.

My partner has them in coffee though, but you could have them in tea. He says to

put milk with them to disguise the taste because they taste very " earthy " :)

Guarana is a source of caffiene. Why are you short of energy? Can you get to

the root of the problem?

Moonfirelady,

The energy tea I drink is a blend of cooked Rehmannia rt, ginkgo leaf,

oatstraw,

carob pods, siberian ginseng, Dang shen, nettle leaf, hawthorn leaf

and flower and roasted dandelion root. I've also tinctured it for the

times when I am out and about and can't drink a tea.

Any ginkgo I have seen is from the leaves, not the

root. Ginkgo biloba is a tree, and harvesting the

roots from a tree would be difficult at best. Where

are you getting your ginkgo from? I would be

interested in what the medicinal properties of the

root vs. the leaves would be.

As for energy, I make a tea blend for mornings that

uses burdock, eleuthro ginseng, schizandra berries,

licorice and chickory root. These herbs (with the

exception of chickory, that's just there to create a

flavor reminiscent of coffe) all have action on the

adrenal glands, working as a tonic (nourishing the

glands so they work better, rather than caffeine,

which simply kicks them into overdrive and depletes

them).

Hope that helps!

Rebecca

Dear Rebecca,

Over here we can get gingko Drinks that have a chunk of root in them. They

come in a clear bottle and you can see the root.. it is a very earthy

looking drink. We have bought them from the chinatown section of our city,

but it is definitely a gingko root/drink. The root is usually the part of

the plant that has strongest properties, so is much more effective for

energy than just the leaves. This is the reason why gingko tastes like dirt

for us LOL

If there are any more questions, I will go and buy a bottle. It has asian

writing on it,but perhaps I can figure it out on the offchance there is some

english on the bottle.

Hi Moonfirelady!

Personally, I like to use a very simple blend for energy. 1-3 herbs

depending on the task at hand so to speak. All of the advice/tips

have been great here. It is hard to really determine what you need

without knowing more about what your exact need is.

Can you tell us more??

Are you mixing up Gingko and ginger?

Gingko uses leaves, ginger roots.

Ah well.

Both great herbs. Our Earth Mother has

supplied so many wonderful substances for

our health, it really takes some doing to

get sick, as long as we don't live too

far from Her.

Ien, having a smarmy moment.

I can get choked up about the power of

plants, and other natural healing ways.

Re: Looking for Herbs to put in teas to give you energy

The BEST and quickest way to increase your energy is thru BREATHING!!

No DRUGS, no teas, no lotions, no potions... at all...

Find out how good is your breathing

and learn some of the factors that cause poor breathing here:

www.breathing.com/tests.htm

Results will be emailed to you immediately after completing your 5 minute or 15

minute test.

I suggest taking the 15 minute test to give you the BEST overall assessment of

YOUR breathing!

I HIGHLY recommend getting the 176 DVD/CD combination for $49.95. It SHOWS you

HOW to do that, along with several " tools " that will greatly aid your progress!
