morning--

....so, you think I'm 'misguided' in my beliefs?

Ok--that's your right to believe. I stand by my words, and have

always tried to the best of my ability, <from about the age of 10, by

the way>, to practice just what I preach to others: tollerance and

the RESPECT shown to others to practice how they choose, and the

belief that the SAME should be shown towards me, or anyone else.

I have to ask--(sincerely--not defensively, or with 'attitude')--have

you ALWAYS felt this way over the use of generic terms used

seasonally, such as 'happy holidays' and 'season's greating'? or just

lately?

I've chosen to use both of those terms for over 30 years now, and it

wasn't till this year, that anyone chose to behave defensively or

negatively over my addressing them with such.

And to slam ANY business establishment for 'CHOOSING to NOT be so

biased and exclusive as to ONLY mention 'christmas' in their greatings

is so OPENLY hostile to even the IDEA that there's ANY other way of

worship other than YOURS...is soooo egotistical--oh, I just better not

go any further--I can really get ANGRY over that one.

I ask you to understand, that my way of practicing 'religion' or, more

aptly expressed: spiritualism was OUTLAWED until the mid 70's due to

fear and misconceptions by the europeans who dominated this continent,

towards my people.

When you take that aspect, along with what I've personally experienced

while growing up, with respect to hipocritical lifestyles among the

vast majority of those who call themselves 'practicing, good

christians', I think it's damn good that I AM as tollerant as I

profess to be!

What I'm asking here, is WHY, oh WHY can't people just be considerant

enought to each other as to accept each other's way of greatings this

time of year, IN THE " SPIRIT " WHICH IT WAS INTENDED!!! I really DO

consider it ramming YOUR (speaking in 'generalities' here, but also,

assuming you practice Christianity) way as the ONLY way to greet

people durring these months of the year, by taking 'offence' to my NOT

mentioning " Christ " in my greetings to anyone!

Maybe I'm missing something, here--but isn't that EXACTLY the

'intollerance' YOU'RE saying I " M showing towards you, and fellow

christians???

I'm not doing this to be 'politically correct'--that's in itself alot

of hipocritical bull, if you really want to know--but because I

BELIEVE that the BIBLE actually teaches this--as well as just about

every other base religion on the face of this earth--and I see the

truth in that!

Have I heard alot of Jewish believers crying about not being wished

enough 'happy chaunaka' lately? or, muslems being wished whatever it

is they celebrate this time of year--or, any OTHER faith wailing about

the unfairness of it all? NOPE--only christians, by christians,

against anyone they percieve NOT to be a believer in god!

I believe in god--no problem there, but I don't believe this 'season'

is ONLY about the worship of 'christ' as YOUR personal savior.

And...about the subject of separation between church & state:

Now, keeping in mind that I'm finding I DON " T know all there is to

that little concept in the origins of our constitution and what the

Founding Fathers actually meant with all of that--

I truly believe that a person's moral values should not come into play

while intrepting laws, or the making of them--barring the jailing of

murders.

John Roberts said durring his recent confirmation hearings that: a

person's personal beliefs have NO place inside the juridicial

process...and went on to stipulate that a judge's 'job' is to rule

based upon intreptation of the law--and that if you're doing your

'job' correctly--you rule on just that.

Having studied law--I know full well that what you may personally

believe may be 180 degrees from what you're arguing in a court of

law--but you must put your personal views aside to do the job

correctly---that's what the person who's paying to have you represent

them is shelling out the bucks for to begin with. Along with that,

the 'truth' actually has no basis in our courts--it's the

'perponderance of evidence' and which side more convincingly portrays

that side of the situation. To believe anything other than THAT, is

nobel--but unrealistic.

....lastly, I'm glad we both live in a country where it's OK to

disagree on such basic things--and still consider each other to be

'friends'. Being a 'Libra', I really love a good 'discussion' every

once in a while. eh?

sincerely,

goody
