Guest guest
Hi everyone, I really don't mean to cause a further ruckus, but when I read that " The USA didn't exist until 1776 " , I just had to chime in. http://www.viewzone.com/baboquivari.html We all have a lot invested in our beliefs and much of it is based on the history books we've read. Like, Christmas is the day of Christ's birth. We buy into it big time, but it simply isn't true. It reminds me of my recent visit to Egypt, where what the guides are " allowed " to say to protect and validate the beliefs of the people are NOT fact. Folks, there is so much more than meets the eye, and WAY more than we've been told. Let's broaden our minds and release conditioned, limited thinking to embrace the vastness of wisdom available. And, let's all be kind and tolerant of those who believe differently than we do. http://www.viewzone.com/baboquivari.html HAPPY NEW YEAR! Guest guest
North America and the USA are not the same thing. USA - United States of America did not exist when Columbus got here. Columbus came to North America, not the USA. Paula .......... in Michigan I used to have super powers but my therapist took them away Hi everyone, I really don't mean to cause a further ruckus, but when I read that " The USA didn't exist until 1776 " , I just had to chime in. Guest guest
OK, I stand corrected. The United States of America was not called the United States of America until 1776. Thanks, Michelle North America and the USA are not the same thing. USA - United States of America did not exist when Columbus got here. Columbus came to North America, not the USA. Guest guest
Well, with all due respect for all, if you're talking about a comprehensive review of all that's come before, you shouldn't use the term USA. I was merely pointing out that the original poster had used the term USA, not the American continent, or all that came before -- and I felt the term was used deliberately to draw a distinction -- at least that was how I took the comments. The responder was trying to draw in all that came before and, that shadowed things a bit. Just my opinion and something I felt was worth pointing out. That the government of the United States, known as the USA began in 1776 is fact (well, unless you're British! <g>). Please don't take that to mean anymore than what I just said. It's not meant to exclude anyone. It's very easy to infer intents that aren't always there -- especially easy in email. Now, I'm done -- you guys have done a lovely job and I meant no disrespect to those who lived here before Columbus. Most of us have native ancestors, I know I do -- three great grandmothers in fact. I only ask that readers not infer more from my statement than what I said. If there's any question, feel free to ask. Carry on. If anyone believes I've offended them, you are free to sound off privately. I'm ready to return to herbs and oils myself, so I won't continue on list. Thank you! Susan H. Guest guest
Hey Paula, There were no countries in the continent of North America when Columbus arrived, and its been conclusively proven he was NOT the first person to discover North America. There is evidence of Norse Settlements in several places on the eastern seaboard of Canada and the USA It has now been proven that the ice shield covered the atlantic ocean as low as France on one side and Maine USA on the other until very late, and there were also prehistoric " immigrants " from Europe, who came via the ice, that were integrated into the people who crossed the Bering Strait from Asia. Genetic traces are discovered in DNA in the native people in Ontario, of european forbears. Guest guest
I know, that's the point I was trying to make. Coming to America is not the same as coming to the USA. Coming to America can be anywhere in North or South America. The USA did not exist until 1776. America has been here much, much longer.
