I would be happy with thinking of the end of year celebration as a " Goodwill Holiday " and let everyone celebrate it the way they want...and no one take offense at anyone else's practice. After all, it IS the " season of good will " , is it not?... Guest guest
My personal favourite. Where I live (upstate NY) it is extremely common to see the " God Bless the USA " ribbons adorning all cars that are on the road. When I see that, it makes me think that the bearer is saying " God Bless US but who cares about the rest of the world! " For the most part, I am ensconced here in a culture of people who are ferociously WASP, and very very vocal about it. (About a year ago, I called it Gas Mask Central, when they were arguing about terrorist attacks and telling everybody to stock up on gas masks and duct tape. Pretty much the majority of the folks ran out to Home Depot that night, I swear.) I saw a bumper sticker the other day that I love... " God Bless the Whole World, no Exceptions. " I want that one. Course, I wouldn't want to offend people... who don't believe in God, and may think I'm trying to shove my beliefs down their throat, but how about just " Bless the Whole World, No Exceptions? " That's truly how I feel.... > Jennifer and Misty wrote: > " ...You are so right about that, Kirstin, and I, > personally, think it > is > important to instill patriotism in the public arena > (i.e. schools and > society-at-large) and leave religious beliefs to the > family and church > and private religious schools. > ________ DSL – Something to write home about.
