It's the end of a busy week here to. I am MAKING it the end of a super busy week until tomorrow night in a bout an hour. Have a relaxing and happy weekend- y'all. We all deserve it!! Chris, I agree with Butch that clean and simple is best. I get lost on my own site al the time and need to get it cleaned and overhauled too. I do like it better than before- the lighter colors are nice. I would still look to simplify etc..keep it clean and easy. I KNOW it's not easy!! Keep up the good work- actually, take some time to relax! Just goes to show that she has her mind on more important matters than a danged web site. ;-) Tanya and I are happy as folks can be without being under the affluance of incohol. Truth is .. that is why I quit smoking. Ain't gud to be around a woman who is in the best condition life can offer (thinks me and Tanya) and be blowing cigarette smoke into the air she and the baby gotta breath. > All the very best to the THREE of you Thankee ma'am .. and for those who might be wondering .. it is a male child .. gonna be a soldier says I .. ain't gonna be no danged soldier says Tanya .. gonna be a medical doctor .. we shall see. ;-) > Love > Liz And to you and yours .. and y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch
Guest guest
Hey Chris, Being in the same boat . . . (Been building our new site for about 6 months now and it's still not launched-groan.) . . . I have to agree with Butch re: simplicity. For me, that translates into ease of navigation, not fewer choices. My designer has been telling (endlessly) me that there is too much stuff, and every page should have far fewer choices. But, but, but, how do you have over 2,000 different choices (including sizes/various packaging, etc.), each with the need for descriptions, uses, recipes, history, lore, educational pages, safety, etc., etc., etc. We have just chosen business that is far more complex than most and somehow we have to make it simple for the customer. I keep going back to the drawing board, and I am sure that you will, too, as you tweak it out. I believe you CAN have lots of choices, but not overwhelm. Yes, Virginia . . . I am actually jealous that your site is up already, if it's any consolation. It's not too busy for me, but then I'm a Gemini and I've been told I always make things more complex than they need to be. :-) I think you won't scare off customers if the complexity makes sense and is easy to navigate and find your way logically. People are getting more used to the *blog* style similar to what you've chosen with informational choices and links on both sides as well as the middle of the page. You might think about making sub-headers a different color or font than the actual links to the shopping cart so that they stand out more and people can scan easier to peruse the categories they are looking for. I actually think that your old site is visually more busy than the new one. Congratulations!
