Guest guest
Hey y'all, As best as I can recall from my files .. the original question was: > Can anyone tell me if there is a natural way to preserve a body lotion > if I make one? I do have some GSE but have heard pros and cons about it. And the answer is NO! At least not effectively. I have no problems with folks NOT using preservatives for their own use or for sale .. as long as they advise buyers or recipients that there are no preservatives in the product .. and as long as those who DO use preservatives do not claim that the product is all natural. Its not so much a matter of life or death danger as it is false marketing .. and the cottage industry of aromatherapy and homemade cosmetics is not going to prosper if false marketing does not cease. I'm thinking that's gonna happen about the time elephants learn to fly. I have NEVER used a preservative in any of my hydrosols .. don't intend to either. I have them tested every 90 days and except for one time (in 1996) when we lost a barrel .. all have proven to be safer than bottled drinking water. Many folks claim there is a need to use preservatives in Hydrosols .. my buddy, Martin Watt, is one of them .. but I disagree with him. Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
