Guest guest
Hi Susan, My dh has this also. You have to remove the hardened skin by getting a pedicure or get the tool yourself(it is a handled tool with a razor secured inside it)A lot of men are going for pedicures now- they have bad feet too!! The tool sounds scary, but actually it is very easy to use.First he would have to soak his feet for about 10-15 min use a nice Tea Tree-Peppermint Salts blend and then do the scrape, and then use a buffer that sands off the left over rough stuff. If you have gone for a pedicure you will know the tecnical terms for these tools I am speaking of.You can also use the scrub as maintenance. ... Before my hubby had gone so far as to use a belt sander!!!! This was before I bought the proper tools. They can be pricey but well worth the cost. Many years ago my hubby had fell off a building(while at work) and broke both his ankles and split his 1 heel in half-so this is why he gets an extreme split of hardened calluse (sp?). He doew fine now, amazing he can even walk!!! Hope this helps - Susan Harkins Susan said: My husband suffers from cracked skin on his feet. Sometimes it's very painful. I was thinking about a fine salt scrub with tea tree oil, maybe lavender. I'm just guessing. Guest guest
Hi Susan, He very well could have a foot fungus that is causing the skin to dry out and crack. If I were to use a scrub for that I'd prefer a sugar scrub over a salt scrub (ya know, the old rubbing salt into wounds thing Also, a good pedicure foot sander or callous remover tool kind of thing might be worth investing in - they are best used after a foot soaking. I'd personally make an herbal foot soak " tea " that contains Taheebo a.k.a. Pau D'arco (Tabebuia impetiginosa). If hubby doesn't mind sleeping with socks on a nice salve containing shea butter and tea tree oil, put on right before bed, might be a consideration too. *Smile* Chris (list mom) Think left and think right and think low and think high. Guest guest
I would recommend pure, shea butter with a bit of tea tree eo mixed in and slathered on the affected area right before going to bed. Have hubby wear light weight cotton socks to sleep in and to keep the butter in place and not on your bedding. Guest guest
Tammy, thank you for sharing this recipe. I don't have a clue where to find some of these ingredients, nor do I know what they are, but I will muddle through! I wanted to ask you how you applied this to your scalp - wouldn't this be really hard on your hair??? Is this the same mixture you applied to ward off your psoriasis, or did you have a different recipe for the hair? Thanks again... Guest guest
> Symptoms: Dried, cracked skin all around the sides and on the sole. > > Susan H. <SNIPPED> Susan, I too have this problem....and they get really really bad. I can have cracked skin with the cracks almost 1/2 inch deep. OUCH! The best thing I have found to do, is to soak my feet, to soften the dried cracked areas. Take a foot file and file the dead skin away as much as possible. Then apply a thick cream to my feet. I apply it liberally. Then put on a pair of socks, and sleep with the sock left on. If I do this consistently, my feet are like new. Once I get my feet in good shape, doing this once per week usually keeps things in good order. Also, I slather my feet with the cream each night and wear the socks, and it really does help, even if I don't do all the other stuff. HTH a bit, Candy (who just remembered she REALLY needs to do this to her own feet tonight!)
Guest guest
>> Symptoms: Dried, cracked skin all around the sides and on the sole. >> >> Susan H. > <SNIPPED> > Susan, I forgot to mention that a sugar scrub could help a bit too. I don't know if I would do a salt scrub, especially with the cracks. If they are really deep it will burn! OUCH! The sugar wouldn't burn, and it wouldn't be quite as abrasive as salt is. So, he might have to use it more often, but at least it wouldn't hurt to use it. If you need an actual recipe for a sugar scrub....give me a shout offlist, and I will give you one to try. Guest guest
Hi Candy... I'm looking for a scrub recipe that is kinda 'creamy' & there is no oil floating on the top...I want the sugar (or salt) to be fully mixed...does that make sense? If your recipe is like this would you mind sharing with me also? I haven't been able to accomplish what I have in my mind to do!! lol If anyone else has one they wouldn't mind sharing it would be much appreciated! Have a wonderful day!! donna Donna Buchholz Something Different Soap & Things mizbucky

Guest guest
As a reflexologist, I see my share of cracked skin. I always give those clients some of my friend Magda's healing salve. I have seen it transform heels that were deeply cracked, and they belonged to loggers who work in the bush, on their feet, in heavy boots all day. Ridiculously cheap too. www.flyinghandsfarm.addr.com Ien in the Kootenays ******************************* Different things work for different people.
