I am looking for a source of unscented bubble bath so I can add my own

fragrances. Anyone got a simple recipe (very simple) or a source?

Hey Gayla,

That decyl polyglucose that I carry is really great for making easy

bubble baths. The simplest way to use it to basically just add

fragrance! Of course you could make more complex formulas with it, but

it works by itself well too!

Hi Gayla,

Try Christine's Decyl Polyglucose... you can dilute it and add fragrance.

I've been using it straight out of the bottle for my daughter and it has

produced fabulous bubbles and did not aggravate (sp) her excema.

so chris, when's our next pre-buy???

So, what do you dilute the Decyl Polyglucose with--oils, water,

juices, gels, etc etc etc? I have no idea how to use this but it may

work for things I need here.

Hi Bonnie:

How much water (distilled ?) would you use to dilute it, do you know ? I

think I would rather dilute it and save some money but still get the bubbles

enough for baths.

Thanks,

you can use the decyl polyglucose full strength ... or stretch it by adding

any amount of water ... i wouldn't go any further than 50-50 as i think the

decyl gets too thin, although i think the " recommded " usage rate is actually

50% or less decyl polyglucose, but i don't have the MSDS in front of me.

also, for bubble baths i am not convinced that diluting with water really

" stretches " it b/c then you need to add more of your mixture to get the same

amount of bubbles. water also introduces the yeasties and bacterias, so my

MO has been to " dilute " with water at bath time!

you can use oils, but i haven't been successful in getting them to stay

mixed (at least not with oil AND water AND decyl polyglucose). probably just

oil and decyl would mix ok, but i haven't tried it yet.

i had really good luck doing equal parts natural shampoo paste/base, decyl,

and water. a friend of mine had made the base from the Natural Liquid Soaps

book whose author I can't put my finger on at this exact moment. i believe

it was cocoa butter, coconut oil, castor oil, jojoba saponified with

Potassium Hydroxide Lye (although i am not sure if she actually saponified

or just melted it all together and called it a shampoo base!); you can

probably find a similar base either through Chris or one of the other

vendors on the list. if you're also interested in shampoo but don't feel

like making your own base.

but, mainly i've been too busy all summer and fall to experiment so i've

just been running about 1 tsp of decyl polyglucose under water and agitating

and coming up with great bubbles. if you dilute, you'll need to use a

little more. and don't forget to agitate the water in the bath tub right

after you add it to the running bath water. it makes a HUGE difference in

how much wonderful bubbly foam you get. a small " inconvenience " for getting

that much suds from an all natural, very gentle surfactant, imho.

And now, after 6 months of meaning to do something more interesting than

just use it straight out of the bottle ... i need more!!!

Hey Bonnie, that sounds great to me ! I think I'll give it a try and see

what I can come up with. I love the fact that it's much more gentle as

well. Thank you for all the help with this. I sure appreciate it very

much. You have a great weekend and do all the things you want to.

I would probably dilute it with sterile water or distilled water. My DH

would undoubtedly use 1/2 of a 12 ounce bottle for 1 bath! LOLOLOLOLOL

Thanks!!

Hi Neysa,

I'd have to dig out the recipes to get you some exact recipes (there

will be a recipe section on my new web site BTW <grinz>), but a few

ideas is to add some handmade liquid soap, herbal infusions and

extracts, hydrosols, EO's, fixed oils, and all kinds of neat stuff like

that!
