It is a grass roots alternative to the national organic standards

that, unlike the later, deals with the sustainability of the farm not

just it's abstinence from synthetic chemicals. Also, it is farmer run

so it is less likely to be corrupted by corporate ag interests. It's

organic plus since they follow the same standards as the government

but requier sustainable practices not mandated in the NOS.
