Hi all

I have come across some places that say to use corn starch for baby powder.

This dries up my baby to much. What eles that is really good can I use?

when I make body powder, my basic recipe is equal parts of corn starch, rice

flour, arrowroot powder, and 1/2 part Kaolin clay.

You can just play around, too. I find rice powder too scratchy, I just

hate the texture that it gives my powders. I love arrowroot, bentonite

clay (just a bit) and colloidal oatmeal. I also use some powdered herbs.

I never use cornstarch b/c it can feed yeast which will exacerbate many

yeast-related diaper rashes.

  • 3 months later...

I've discontinued the use of cornstarch in most of my powders, and love

to use tapioca instead :)

I find that the tapioca is smoother feeling than the cornstarch. Another

benefit is that tapioca doesn't aggravate yeast issues like cornstarch

can.

The addition of arrowroot and some clays makes a nice combo :)

Chris, nice to read a post such as this because a baby/body powder was on my

agenda. I like the thought of using tapioca in place of the cornstarch and

who-hoo I have some on hand.

As an aside, I love that Dr. Seuss line. I think I'd like to think like that

more often!

I'd love to try this out...any suggestions where I can purchase tapioca in bulk

at wholesale prices?
