Guest guest
As I am in Canada I am more aware of the Canadian possibilities. Here in Canada both the BCAPA and the CFA offer Product Liability Insurance in addition to Professional Liability Insurance. Originally both associations only offered Professional Liability Insurance however at the request of their membership this was extended to include Product Liability as well. Obviously with larger numbers the premium for these policies are much more affordable than they would be if one were to purchase them individually. Of course these insurance options are only valid for those residing in Canada. Interestingly enough NAHA's web site indicates that they do offer both professional and product liablity, however as I am not a resident of the US I have not investigated just how these might work. From their web site: *Professional Insurance and Product Liability Insurance*: NAHA is now providing Professional Liability Insurance - 1 year ONLY $189. Professional members of NAHA are now eligible to receive a $5,000,000 Liability Insurance coverage. The area of coverage includes: Professional Liability, Products Liability and General Liability. (Please note: The Products liability includes those products used during treatment and products customized for clients, this does not include manufacturers or retail of products.) Please contact the Insurance Provider directly for insurance application (new or renewal) or additional information: Holistic Benefits 25 South Fourth Street PO BOX 421 Warrenton, VA 20188 www.holisticbenefits.com <http://www.holisticbenefits.com> info <info Toll free:1 866 243-1707 (540) 351-0800 phone (540) 351-0816 fax Although on reading this I see that this does not cover Retail Products which of course would be more of what you would be interested in Marge. This is certainly an area where aromatherapy associations could do more however they are only likely to do so if the membership requests it. If, for example, you were to tailor make a blend (or make huge batches of 'em) for massage clients, you would be covered... even assuming that you send the client home with more of your blend for follow up treatment. but if you sell the same blend to anyone who is looking for a blend to do...fill in the blank... then you can't be covered. retailers are specifically excluded.
