Guest guest
Hey y'all, I mentioned in a previous post that I answer a lotta mail off line .. and I don't mind doing this so don't be reluctant to ask me off line. Howsomeever .. some posts that I reply to need to be posted openly to this list because as sure as kats got kittens .. there will be forty leven other folks wondering about the same thing .. below is a reply I gave today. Don't be ashamed to ask questions on the list .. the fact that you do not have information simply means you are new at the game .. or maybe not so new but just didn't give it a lotta thought before .. and now you are thinking on it and you're smart enough to ask about it. It is easy .. Therapeutic Grade is marketing hype .. there is NO WAY to determine exactly what is or is not therapeutic .. man does NOT have the capability to do this .. its all about natural synergy .. we can know what a particular isolated chemical can do .. and we can extrapolate the expected therapeutic value of that isolated chemical .. but we will be no closer to truth than we can be if we try to guess the next number to be selected in a random drawing. We can NOT extrapolate with success because we are missing the unknown effects of the whole synergy of the natural product. Anyone who says otherwise .. is a liar and a fraudulent marketer .. or they just do not know what they are talking about .. they are merely parroting the hype of others. There are but a very small handful of studies regarding the therapeutic value of a particular EO .. nobody is going to spend the money to learn this info because you can't patent a natural product in the first place .. and the millions of bucks and years of research needed to meet FDA requirements are only spent by the major pharmaceutical companies to study products they can patent. Additionally .. if we are not medical doctors .. we should avoid the use of terms like " therapeutic " in the second place .. to use them is to suggest that we are peddling medicines without a license .. in fact, when we sell EO .. we are really doing that .. but we can't claim to be doing so. ;-) There is .. however .. a difference between what we call Aromatherapy Grade and Commercial Grade .. the former being as it was when it exited the still .. the latter being either a manipulated oil .. or a pure oil that is inferior in that the chemical profile does not fit within the " footprint " of what fallible man has determined to be optimum for that botanical. If you ask such questions on Oils & Herbs .. dozens and dozens of folks will be able to benefit from the info. :-) But since you did not .. I'll sanitize this and post it .. lots of new folks there and the purpose of the list is to edumocate them. ;-) > -XXXXXXXXXXX Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com >> QUALITY OF ESSENTIAL OILS OFFERED: I deal only in Aromatherapy Grade >> Essential Oils .. they must be pure and quality.
