They're not EO's, but I've found for the guys that these scents seem to sell

pretty good for me: Ozark Forest, Bay Rum, Earth(GAP dupe) Basil Sage &

Mint, and Apple Jack & Peel

Hi Mary,

Not a guy here *lol* but I can tell you that my hubby, whose nose is

bombarded by various scents on a regular basis living with me (from oils

to herbs food constantly cooking .. ;), currently enjoys the following

soap I make the most: Turkish Sage, Coffee, Pumpkin Pie Spice and my

soaps with a deep " wood " scent base.

I hope that helps ya out some :)

I have a nice collection of oils, and am planning on scenting some soaps

with them. I have zillions of blends for women in mind, but I'm a little

at a loss to know what kinds of scents men might appreciate. (My guy

doesn't much like scents of any kind.) Maybe some of you guys could clue

me in. Any favorite blends? I'm not averse to buying even more oils, so

feel free to stretch your imagination.

Thanks in advance,

Mary in Michigan

my best selling man's scent is Commando - only available from www.bayousome.com

, it's their personal/house blend/FO. I sell at least 5 items scented with this

for every other male scented item I carry. And it colors the soap a nice khaki

green color. I can send you a sample of it if you send me your snail mail addy.

Been getting ready for a holiday craft show or 2 and have been making soap &

things like crazy.

Sandalwood anything :-) Go from there... I've been wearing

Sandalwood-Myrrh-Tangerine lately.

A friend of mine is a big Bay Rum fan, but if he had to choose

between that and Sandalwood, it would be goodbye Bay Rum.

Jasmine is supposed to be the masculine floral. Black pepper. Tobacco

(I've seen some kind of absolute or something of this for perfumery).

Pine/conifers.

Mostly, think spicy, earthy, woods, ocean, seasons, elements, bright,

sun, yang, etc.

Hi Mary,

Before making a formula of this kind I would keep in mind both the

kinds of scents men might like most as well as the effect on the skin

and the senses of all of the ingredients you use. I find men like oils

that are fresh and woody or warm and spicy very much. Many also like

fresh citrusy scents. If you use spices or citrus oils just take care

with the quantities and overall effect on skin- especially if they will

use the soap on the face. With most spice oils you will only need a

tiny amount to have a (scent) great effect. Too much can irritate the

skin.

Some ideas are:

A very nice basic soap for men is Tea Tree, Lavender, Eucalyptus, &

Peppermint. Nice for some of the skin conditions men have from time to

time, deodorizing naturally, and very brisk and refreshing.

Eucalyptus (radiata has a nice scent)- nice with Peppermint & Lavender

(bits of the herb- peppermint are nice here too)- leave out the Tea

Tree.

Rosewood- solo or blended can be used in many ways to add warmth and

woodiness.

Cedarwood- solo or blended can be used in many ways to add warmth and

woodiness.

Vetiver- deep and masculine (a little goes far!)

Lisea Cubeba & Lime (Litsea is really a great scent that many men

love!) Nice with Palmarosa too.

Patchouli- mix with tiny quantities of spice oils- and sweet smelling

butters- like cocoa butter, and virgin Coconut

Bay Rum & Orange

Spearmint & Peppermint

Frankincense (works well with citrus and spices too) add a touch of

Myrrh as well for the season

Rosemary & Mint (use a combination or Mints or just Peppermint)- very

refreshing and nice for oily/combo skin

Lavender, Bergamot & Clary Sage (nice herbal for either men or women)

Given the cold days ahead of us though, it is a nice time for a warm

rich & spicy blend.

Have fun!

Hi Mary,

I would be happy to give you some feedback if you should like to send

any samples (can be tiny) of blends or I an simply respond to the

general idea for the blend by email.

Many thanks to Josh and Elizabeth for your contributions. I have to say,

I have some personal experience with overuse of citrus oils... I

remember one lovely orange bath when I felt like climbing right out of

my skin! That cured me of overusing oils.

My new shipment of oils, which hasn't arrived yet (I'm on pins and

needles... I'm hoping today is the day) contains many of the oils

mentioned here, and I already have many of the others, so I'm rarin' to

go.
