Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm scheduled to travel through Egypt for 15 days. Leaving a week from today. Suddenly, I feel all this apprehension. OK, I admit that with 50 just 6 weeks away, I have been feeling more in touch with my mortality. But, I also got to thinking, geeeze, maybe there's more to the warning from my family than I think. I've got a 10 year old and am not as adventurous as I once was. Any tips from those in " the know " about the current safety in Egypt. A google search just made me more nervous. I'd like to hear from others and not read the media. Thanks for any imput you can share. Michelle
Guest guest
From InternationalSOS.com Security risks in Cairo and other main destinations are low. Crime levels are considerably lower than those in European or North American countries. The neighboring Israeli/Palestinian dispute affects the whole region and Egypt's proximity presents a risk. Hope that helps! Judy FareChase: Search multiple travel sites in one click. http://farechase.
Guest guest
Dear Michelle, I have no wisdom to contribute regarding the safety of Egypt. I just want to remind you of things you already know, and in fact have reminded me of. Forget you are an American tourist, with all the bagage that entails. Focus on your identity as a seeker in that ancient land. We are all children of Earth. This is our planet. We are entitled to visit every nook and cranny of it, and damn the dark forces who would have it otherwise and who are creating fear. Focus on how you will FEEL, full of awe and gratitude, soaking up the vibrations in old sacred places, allowing synchronicity to send you just the people you need to meet. You are good at doing that vibration stuff. If you try that exercise and keep getting severe feelings of un-ease, ask if it is fear or your intuition telling you to stay home. The anwers you seek are within. Let us know! Ien in the Kootenays ************************* " Never mind what the book says. God gave you a brain. " ~A.T. Guest guest
My dance instructor goes to Egypt and Turkey every year. She takes her husband who even stays whale she is taking 6 hour dance lessons and she makes sure to dress for the country.Meaning cover up and blend a bit. It's just safer and lets people know you respect their way. Now before you all flame me . I Hate the way women are treated there. However, self preservation and common scense should take some consideration.Plus,if you walk a mile in some of their shoes you will find people happy with things like veils.(many different reasons) anyway, just 2 cents and I hope your journey goes well!Ravenstone , " Michelle " <michelle@h...> wrote: > > > Hi everyone, > > I'm scheduled to travel through Egypt for 15 days. Guest guest
Thanks Ravenstone. I agree with you so much. Important to be sensitive to the culture. I have 2 pretty cotton shawls that will work for cool evenings, and to cover up. We're also mindful of keeping shoulders and knees covered in certain places. My fair, fair skin and strawberry blonde hair won't blend in, but my clothing outta (at least somewhat)! Michelle Meaning cover up and blend a bit. It's just safer and lets people know you respect their way.
