Hey Butch, others interested,

 

Seems b-diketones (a ketone fraction) are quite prevalent in Corsican Heli,

especially premature shoots . . . Curcumin is a beta-diketone constituent of

the spice turmeric, a distant relative of our beloved heli. The importance

has more recently been studied as anti-cancer applications for b-diketones.

Don't have a lot of information, but the references below show the

importance of diketones in photochemical transformations and further

research may possibly lead to medical applications other than the

anti-inflammatory and anti-coagulant applications that we revere for bruises

and haematomas using H. italicum. Don't think we should dismiss other helis

out of hand and we should pay attention to research of the complete range of

species.
