Helichrysum italicum (Rothm.) Guss. ssp. serotinum Boiss is ONLY > > > > It's perfectly possible to take some seeds from the Corsican Helichrysum italicum and to find a suitable place elsewhere. That's what we have done here in the French mainland. It worked quit well, the analyse is almost identical to the Corsican one. My problem is that the farmer did not planted enough and was caught with other problems so he did not expand the experience, we have only a very small amount per year. We also have difficulties to find enough land to cultivate here in the Cevennes. Yes, it's true that the demand is far higher than what is produced. The oil I have actually is used for some of my recipes, I refuse to sell what is left already at this moment. You could add the helichrysum microphyllum to the list of helichryse oils (Sardinia island, close to Corsica but Italian) The analyse that buyers should be able to verify when they buy a 'true " Helichrysum oil should have the following components: -neryl acetate: between 37 and 40 percent (or more) -italidione ( I, II and III): minimum 10 to 12 percent This one is the distinctive component! Those that visited my oils database were able to see different analyses, one from Corsica in 1999, another one from our field here in France, another one from Sardinia ( " Sardaigne " )., other suppliers don't give enough analyse details. (the server in The Netherlands had recently some problems, it was unavailable the last days) Only the Corsican and our harvest (from Corsican seeds) had the two main components available. The Sardinian and most ex Yugouslavian one lacked the 3 Italidiones. I would love to see the complete HCRG from " Jeanne Rose " in order to make up my mind about her statement. I remember an american buyer, as we were in Grasse on a aromatherapy conference , some years ago, laughing: (actually I really thought he was serious) " I don't mind what kind of helichryse oil I can buy, as long as the name " Helichryse " is on it... My american clients don't care... " This may explain the fact that " Helichrysum oil " from Madagascar became so popular... As for the question of a replacement oil: I foresaw the day that Helichrysum oil would be very difficult to find, due to the status of a " magical " oil it gained through YL oils in the USA and made a synergy of different oils that have as a anti-hemaotome product the same action. I cannot give here the exact recipe (my mother used to tell me ( " Feind hort mitt " ), but can tell you the oils I Use: -Laurus nobilis -Gaultheria fragrantissima (from Nepal, one of the only realiable sources left (or Betula aleghaniensis/lenta if still available) -Hypericaum perforatum -Hyssop montana canescens (linalol type) (ex decumbens) I first made a " Arnica creme " with it, untill the day that I found out, as my wife had a serious pain on her feet (approx. 100 kg fell on ot), and I carried her to my lab and took the essential oil synergy without arnica tincture in it. I put it neat on her feet and she immediately felt better. We repeated it several times, even in the night and it worked very well. I actually witnessed the disappearing of the violet color of her hematome some minutes after the first neat application. I think one could replace the hyssop montana with a nice Thymus vulgaris ct linalol type. The only difficult and expensive oil left is the Hypericum perforatum oil. It would be good for aromatherapy to have more of this oil available, instead of still trying to find the Corsican helichryse oil at any price. Corsica is a corrupt island anyway, why does nobody here speaks about the relations with the maffia that some of the producers have, one of the former main producers is actually in jail for having murdered the former " Prefect Claude Erignac " some years ago! http://adminet.com/min/int/erignac.html If nothing else available, just try any highy linalol-type oil on hematomes!
