This is the only group where I post invitations to join our

Natural Perfumery group. We're actually lying low a bit, because with

600 members, well, that's a lot to manage. It's a different group

personality than you'll find here -- we don't chat much, we're just

focused on natural perfumery. It's still as friendly as here, and we

make lots of friends with other perfumers, we just stay on topic more.

Perfumers are very different than aromatherapists and herbalists by

nature and practice, I've found. We're much more solitary and shy,

actually, since perfumery is much more exacting, demanding, and the

chances for rejection are 100 times that of AT or herbs. An

aromatherapist makes a healing blend, an herbalist recommends certain

teas or a holistic approach, and the end user knows that comes from

centuries of precedent, so if the tea doesn't work, or if the AT blend

doesn't quite elevate them, it's not a bad reflection on the practitioner.

Perfumes are highly subjective, and the age of the perfume critic has

arrived on the internet (and in print.) We put our babies, our

carefully crafted blends out there for the public to say " wow! " or

" phew! " Takes a lot of guts, time, focus, education, and money to

become a perfumer.

After all that, if you're still interested, and want to take your love

of aromatics to the next level, mosey on over and join. We have an

incredible amount of information in our Files, Links and message

archives, more than anywhere else on the internet, probably the

planet, as far as natural perfumery is concerned.

We do like you to drop us a note about your background when you join,

so we can help guide you, if needed. Chris is one of the moderators,

so you know you'll be welcomed ;-)
