Guest guest
Hello, I am wondering if anyone knows if essential oils/absolutes which contain coumarin would be unsafe for a pregnant person in a natural perfume blend? I have read about the ill affects of the internal use of coumarin during pregnancy, but I am unsure if the concern would apply to the topical use (for example, tonka absolute in a perfume). I appreciate any guidance! TIA Michelle
Guest guest
Do you realize what Coumarin is and what it's used for? It's an anti-coagulant, for people with blood clots or a history of blood clots. In lay terms, it's blood thinner. I would have to say, most everything is absorbed through the skin. So would this be. To be safe, if a persons pregnant, they shouldn't use it. I wouldn't use it, knowingly. Too risky.
