Guest guest
Hey Ien Which OILS.... He chose them.... a citrus salad (he liked them all plus MayChang) Then we added a touch of Basil and Lavender I think... Can't remember the rest(if there was anything). I put it in a perfume bottle and before he goes to school, we dab some on his shirt. Part of his ritual is to close his eyes while breathing deep, then saying to himself 3x " Hocus Pocus Focus " ... As I said, it seems to be helping. I also bought a timer for him which he gave to his teacher... she sets it for say ten minutes in which he has to concentrate, when the timer goes off, he gets a break, then repeat... she will slowly expand the time for which he concentrates on his work at school so that gradually he will be able to work as much as the rest of the kids... Hope that helps. And the SCHOOL is helping. I told them all about the oils (Which the LOVED the idea of and Hocus Pocus...), they suggested the timer... so together we're trying to settle him down... it REALLY helps to have a sympathetic principal, teacher etc. Also the teacher helps encourage him by giving him tickets for focusing, bringing all his gear to school, storing it correctly, behaving well... each ticket is translated into money at home... another incentive that seems to work... Teacher has even called to say how pleased she is with his progress... HOWSOMEVER... He's not been officially diagnosed with anything (I refuse to even START down that road), so he's not on any drugs... I look at him as a typical ditzy boy who just needs to learn to settle and concentrate... Slowly, Slowly goes the dance. Guest guest
Oh yes, the timer! FlyLady's secret weapon, lol. I use it myself. I will sternly tell myself that I can do anything for 15 minutes, set the timer, and am usually amazed at how much of a dreaded chore is done in that time. Can I quote that post too? Please?
