Dear Ien,

Gayla may be absolutely right that it is a moth. All I know is that

they grow on the bark of the Live Oak here in Florida and are

extremely full of Tannin.

They are not found ALL the time so whenever I see them - I harvest....

Grieves mentions them in her book on Oak Trees. Not to be confused

with other Galls on other trees. They are VERY hard and have to be

smashed by a strong armed man before they are put into Vodka.

They are extremel astringent just as a simple - I have used it on cuts

and it is extremely good by itself to tighten gums.....love Penny

I wonder if I could substitute Sangre de Drago?

It is extremely astringent,

will stop bleeding even in

severe cases, and it heals gums beautifully.

Hey, it's my kitchen, I reign

supreme... I just might try that. Strictly for personal use.
