Guest guest
Dear Ien, Gayla may be absolutely right that it is a moth. All I know is that they grow on the bark of the Live Oak here in Florida and are extremely full of Tannin. They are not found ALL the time so whenever I see them - I harvest.... Grieves mentions them in her book on Oak Trees. Not to be confused with other Galls on other trees. They are VERY hard and have to be smashed by a strong armed man before they are put into Vodka. They are extremel astringent just as a simple - I have used it on cuts and it is extremely good by itself to tighten gums.....love Penny

It is extremely astringent, will stop bleeding even in severe cases, and it heals gums beautifully. Hey, it's my kitchen, I reign supreme... I just might try that. Strictly for personal use.
