Guest guest
Dear oils experts, After a break of a few years I went back to the group ADHD-parents, to share some fresh tips I have learned over the years. The stories from desperate parents will break your heart. And I hate to see so many kids put on these horrid drugs. In the beginning I had only one alternative trick up my sleeve: improve your diet, check allergies, and try AFA algae. Yes, I sell that one. I have learned more tools, like bio-feedback, FlyLady, and EFT. EFT is totally blowing me away. And, I figured you guys must know some essential oils that are helpful for concentration. The nice thing about oils is that the kid doesn't have to " take " them. Just sneak them into his environment. So, please tell me about what there is, so I can pass it on. The more kids we can keep from taking speed, the better. Guest guest
Dear Julia, You wrote: Ien may I send this to daughter? My grandson has ADHD. I think she'd be interested. She wants him off all drugs. Does any one know of any vitamins that may be able to help too> Actually, I was just asking a question for a change! I am a bit of an anti-ritalin crusader. I am collecting all the things I have learned about ADHD the last 7 years and writing some articles. I figured aromatherapy might be one of many things that can be helpful. How wonderful to meet a mother that wants her child off drugs. I certainly do not judge parents who feel they have no other choice. I would be happy to share what I have learned so far with her. Do I know vitamins that help ADHD? How about a whole live food that contains all vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, in form that your body recognizes as food? Our family has been helped immensely by AFA. I wrote down the story of my son so I won't have to repeat it all the time. Guest guest
Just sneak them into his environment I do that for my son at school. I put some on his sleeve... apparently the girl across from him keeps saying " I smell LEMON... " I told felix not to say anything and just ignore her! LOL! and " Hocus Pocus Focus " seems to be working, he's settling down, concentrating more! Progress is slowly being made! -- Cheers! Guest guest
Julia and all Its a good thing to try to understand the underlying issue/imbalance with these diagnoses. _www.amenclinic.com_ (http://www.amenclinic.com) has an online test to help determine the type of ADD, etc. The Edge Effect by Eric Braverman, MD has several insights into the neurotransmitters involved in the imbalances. My son got a whole lot of help with his many brain issues by a number of supplements, oils, lifestyle and other intervention. He found lavendar and rosemary helpful. Hope this helps mjh Fri, 07 Oct 2005 22:59:03 -0500 grabergirlbyjulia Re: oils for ADHD? Sally, I forgot, very busy day. My grandson also has Aspergers Syndrome. Guest guest
HI Julia, I can understand what she is going thru. It is so hard to deal with these children. I had to take so many things out of Shawn's diet just to stop the whirl winding. He still gets totally out of control at times but he went from having 30-40 fits a day to having only 1 or 2 a week. She will have to look at the foods he is eating and start there. Very often these conditions are a result of a food allergy or they are coupled with food allergies. Our processed foods are the worse things in the world for our children . So she should start with removing all processed foods and get back to the natural state food is supposed to be in. Also no caffeine !! NONE ! It hides under different names so learn all of those and read all labels. Preservatives set Shawn off like a tornado . She will have her start removing those from his diet as well. Shawn loves potato chips so I make them for him fresh and deep fry them in rice bran oil. There is a lot of extra work here but to have some peace in the home and for him to be happier it is sooooo worth the effort !!! The changes don't happen over night. It will take about 2 weeks for the behavior to change. Another note. The milk we buy in the store is soo full of chemicals that if it were fed to a calf the calf would die ! I put Shawn on goat's milk that I buy fresh from a goat farm not far from me. When I first started this diet for him he was 5 and so bad that he couldn't even slow down enough to potty train. I told my daughter what I had been reading and that if we tried this we would have to stick to the diet like glue. Within the first few days we saw some calming and by the second week Shawn was like a different child. He started talking more and he was able to potty train because his mind had slowed down enough for him to actually recognize the need to go in time to get to the bathroom. But the biggest thing that happened is that for the very first time ever Shawn told me he loved me. I think I cried for an hour that day. Today Shawn is in school and working on grade level except in math. This is a child that the doctors said was very MR and would not ever be above 12 years old in his mind. HA ! He is doing wonderfully and now the doctors want to re test him. Sally Apples , Woods and Berries ! Guest guest
Sally, THANK YOU! Would you allow me to share that post with the parents at the other group? I just started " preaching the food-first " gospel there again. So many of them are totally clue-less. It means so much more coming from someone who is dealing with this here and now. Guest guest
Hi Ien, Of course you can. I think it is very important that we first change the diet and hopefully avoid the need for medication. Shawn is medication free. Sally Apples , Woods and Berries !
