Guest guest
Hi Donna: Have been making Olive Leaf Extract for several years now. It is reported to be Anti-bacterial and Anti-Fungal. We tend to use it like a natural Antibiotic. Do like using it with Goldenseal. Checked my favorites to see if I could find a big write-up on OLeaf for you, but it is missing. hmmmm Probably lost when changing info over or something. When I make OLE, I tend to use 1:1 of OL and Vodka. Let simmer for at least three weeks, stirring when you think of it. After 3 weeks, you can strain off the Extract or leave the leaf in for a while. Lots of ole timers tend to leave the leaf in for longer to get more out of the herb. Added note about Elder Berry: Normally, I make an extract of the berries and flowers separately...the berry extract can then be added to Pure Veg. Glycerin to make a syrup out of it~as needed. You can also use the Food Grade Veg. Glycerin as your extractant. Soak Berries in Glycerin for a minimum of 3 weeks. Personally, IMHO Glycerin doesn't get all the goodness out of the herb for a while, plus it has a shorter shelf life than an alcohol extract. That is why, I tend to add the ext. to glycerin when needed. If using dried berries, you might could reconstitute them a bit in Distilled water [use distilled only] and then add your FG Glycerin. it might have a shelf life of 6 mo. to a 1 year. When making a cold/flu syrup or tea, don't forget the Elder Flowers, they are wonderful for Fevers and such too. The newest syrup I'm making has: Elecampane Ext, Elder Flower Ext, Elder Berry Ext, Goldenseal Ext, Olive Leaf Ext, and FG Glycerin in it. Normally, equal amounts of the Extracts, a bit lighter on the Elecampane as it can be overpowering. Then mix with at least an equal amount of FG Glycerin, and up to 1:4 parts FG Glycerin. Here's to staying healthy thruout this long season. Jeez, it began in Early Sept. here. Made sure we have some of Butch's Oregano Oil on hand too. Had given my brother my old bottle when he had hip replacement surgery. Didn't want him coming down with any staff infection. Hi Gayla: You were asking about Jewell Weed Extract. We have it in an alcohol base, and in a witch hazel base. Please contact direct, if interested. A most fragrant evening to ya'll, deb
